Surat, Queensland, Australia
Tony and I had a nice bike ride around the Tara Lagoon before we packed up and headed out of town.

First stop was Meandarra - named by a guy who had a dog named Darra (me-and-darra) - there is even a statue of them on the main street outside the very impressive Anzac Memorial Museum - which was set up by a collector of war memorabilia, it includes a well restored Canberra Bomber . It is great when these small towns set up unusual displays for us to just stumble upon.

Our next stop was 7kms off the road (3kms unsealed) to Myall Park Botanical Gardens. Sue had heard that they were great and the brochure looked fantastic - well, either we were in the wrong place or the brochure lied - it was just like any other Austrlian Bush, to our untrained eyes.
We found 2 of the 3 the grevillias named after the founders daughters, Robyn (red), Sandra (yellow) and Miranda (Colour unknown as we couldn't find it) - they looked just like the ones in our garden. Apparently the idea is to preserve the Austrlian native plants, which is a great idea - perhaps one needs more botanical knowledge that we posses to appreciate it.
We lunched at their nice picnic tables .

Surat was only a few Kms away and when we g'ot there we couldn't drag ourselves away from the lovely free camp called Fishermens Park on the banks of the Balonne river (a donation box at the toilet block helps the fishing club keep the river stocked).
