Apsley Gorge to South West Rocks

South West Rocks, New South Wales, Australia
We stayed here for 4 nights until the 16th August.

On route we stopped at Gingers Cafe, halfway along the really windy road between the Apsley gorge and Wauchope . A lovely spot for a coffee and a chance to get your stomach back in order. This is one of the longest windy roads around, hardly any straight patches - never the less very beautiful scenery, we commented that in the motorhome coming down is probably better than going up.

At Wauchope we stretched our legs before continuing on the South West Rocks to meet Dan And Dawn.

South West Rocks has to be one of the spots we have camped at in Austrlian. The Horseshoe bay holiday park is right on the waters edge. On one side you have the sandy horseshoe bay, with calm clear water, on the other side you have a lovely river entrance and in between the two are black rocks - the bay faces north, not many do on the east coast of Australia, so you get a good sunrise AND sunset from the park.

Every day we saw whales or dolphins or both - in the distance we even saw whales breaching for over an hour, one day.

We swam and snorkeled in the sandy bay, rode our bikes along the kilometers of bike paths , the boys played golf, the girls shopped in the delightful village which is literally outside the parks gates.

We had sundowners at the local pub, coffees at the local cafes and dinner at the surf life savers club, or back at camp whilst enjoying the local butchers great meat - all within walking distance of the park.

Whilst having happy hour at the local pub we met Len & Yvonne, some friends we made in 2010 whilst doing the Follow The Sun tour - it was a nice surprise to bump into them and their new dog Wally.
