Body Art in Key West

Key West, Florida, United States
Tonys birthday and another hop on hop off excursion - this time a trolley bus (same company as we used in Boston) . We decided to stay on and just view the sights from the bus, as most of the places we were interested in returning to where in walking distance off the terminal. It was a good way to get a glimpse of the islands beauty and hear the history.

Back at the terminal we headed to the famous Key Lime Pie shop for a coffee and some pie - very delicious .

By now we had found out that we were visiting on the eve of the Key West Fantasty Fest - body art festival - pop up shops everywhere were painting naked ( or near naked) bodies ( young and old) with patterns, pictures and clothing. Tony wanted to be an apprentice painter, so if he made mistakes he could rub out and start again.

This was serious eye candy for the boys especially, and for once the girls were allowed to shop freely, while the boys were parked on street benches watching the local bodies parade.
A fitting activity for the birthday boy.

Key West has a lot of art shops, cloths shops, souvenir shops, bars and gives one the feeling that it is a party holiday destination.

Back on board we had pre dinner birthday drinks - Terry and Rick really surprised Tony when they presented him with 2 original stone bottles, from his grandfathers ginger beer factory in South Africa. The birthday dinner was at the Canaletto Resteraunt, the Italian themed specialty Resteraunt on board. An excellent meal was had by all.
