Venice, Veneto, Italy
Everyone awoke excited for our drive to Venice! It looked a little overcast as we started our trip. The weather during our drive to Venice or Venezia as they say it in Italy, went from cloudy to sunshine. We could we the cruise ships docked at Venice when we drove over the bridge to the parking garage.
We parked on the top floor which is floor 8 and took a few pictures as the view was great . We then headed down to buy our passes for the Venice Ferry. Manu suggested we go all the way to the San Marco stop and start our adventure there. It is a famous open square in Venice that has many places to sit and have some cappuccino and espresso. The boat ride had many stops and took about 45 min. I took several pictures along the way. One picture I took was of a super yacht with a smaller boat inside of it. Once we got to our stop we bought some items and headed to San Marco square.
We had beverages in front of a band playing music and just marveled at our fortune to be sitting there. One minute we are talking about going the then we are there... right in the heart of Venice! One place we had to visit in San Marco square was the oldest cafe in the world called FLORIAN. If you get a coffee outside listening to music it will cost about 14 Euros. We went inside to the bar and had them for only around 3 euros each.
Next we looked around at many shops and soon found a side alley Gondola that wasn't rented . Today is our lucky day. Carlos paid 80 Euros for us to get 25 minute guided gondola tour.. Thanks Carlos!! After our ride it was time for lunch.
Manu lead us to a very nice place along one of the main canals called Cafe Saraceno. Bonnie had Salad, Miah and I each had a different kind of Spaghetti, Carlos had Spinash Ravioli, while Tom and Manu had Calamari. Lunch was great and it was decided that now was a good time to head back to Lazise, because Venice was very crowded and we were worn out from the sun. The boat trip back to the parking garage was only 20 minutes and the drive to Lazise went quickly.
We took a couple of hours to relax and then went for a shopping stroll before dinner. Dinner was good once again as Miah, Carlos and I had pizza, Bonnie had lasagna while Tom and Manu had a two course meal. Several of us had Wine as well. I wasn't going to spoil my trip to Italy with beer. We went to a small shop for Italian ice cream after dinner. Tomorrow we head back to Munich, Germany!!!
