Day 7: Return to Munich and Dinner at Hans'

Wednesday, September 23, 2015
Munich, Bavaria, Germany
It definitely looks like rain today so perhaps it is a sign that now is a good day to leave. We all packed and headed up to the rental hotel to check out. Some of us had cappuccinos while we waited. After check out we headed to the lakeside because Manu said there is a traveling group of merchants that stop at different places along Lake Garda on different days.
As we slowly strolled through the merchants it began to slightly rain . Miah was a little cold because she didn't have a jacket on. Carlos bought a scarf and 4 purse hangers for his family. Manu bought a scarf as well and I bought some replacement sun glasses as mine broke climbing into Hans' car. We only looked for about 30 minutes because of the rain and then we got on the road.
We drove for about 90 minutes before getting gas, food and drinks. Miah stayed in the car as she was still tired. Manu said the trip home will be longer as there are two places that traffic backs up. The place where we pay our toll ticket and at the border between Italy and Austria. Sure enough traffic was backed up around 8 km from the toll booths and about 4 km from the border. We got another surprise when we got near the border. The temperature dropped and it was snowing!!! Amazing that just two days ago we passed through this same place and everything was green and now it is all white. We took a bunch of pictures, but didn't stop because this trip will take 7 hours instead of the normal 5.
As we got near Munich, Manu sped for about a mile or two at 125 mph so we could see how she normally drives when she is alone . My mother Hilda would be proud of her as she liked to go fast. We could only rest for about 90 minutes before it was time to head over to Hans' house for dinner.
Ade, Gitti and Karsten met us at Manu's place and took Miah and me with them, while the rest went with Manu. Manu had already prepared the rindsrouladen last week and froze it. It is beef rolled up with a slice of pickle, some bacon and spicey mustard. Hans was warming it up in the oven and when we arrived Manu started cooking the noodles and preparing the salad. Hans poured some white wine and we all sat down to eat. For dessert we had Creme Brulee, ice cream and espresso. We sat around and talked for awhile, but everyone was tired and we left around 9 pm.
Tomorrow we rent the van and head to see my uncle in Blaibach.
