Backstage Tour at Sea

Messina, Sicily, Italy
Today was another at sea day. We ate breakfast with Linda and David in the dining room. Then I went to a Brazilian Line Dancing class, meeting up with all of the girls from dinner. During this, Bryan played iPad games on the promenade. Afterward, Bryan did some laundry for us while I got ready for the day.

We had lunch in the dining room, finished up the laundry and then got to go on a backstage tour of the Princess Theatre! We saw the green room, back stage space, and learned more of how they put on their shows . It was great!

Then we played La Havre again, followed by watching Dirty Jobs (the sky skraper window-washer episode) and ate some room service french fries.

We played Ticket to Ride and walked the promenade some before dinner.

We have really gotten to enjoy our table mates. We were laughing and ordering many desserts last night, just like family. After dinner we all went out to the promenade together and watched as the cruise ship sailed between the narrow bit between Sicily and Italy. There was a sunset, lighthouse, Mt. Stromboli in the distance, and fires on the hillside. So there was lots to look at. There was also the tiniest sliver of a crescent moon. It was so pretty it kinda made your heart ache.

Then Bryan and I retired early, having agreed to meet Linda and David at 6:45 the next morning to travel together to Pompeii.

This was just a nice relaxing day on the ship. We made an effort to really just relax and take it easy. We knew that our cruise was almost over and the pace of our trip was going to be picking up again. We were both also a little surprised to find that we were really looking forward to getting off of the cruise. The food, room, and ports were all great, but we were looking forward to more freedom in our travel, less rich food, and being able to enjoy evening strolls again. Our previous cruises had been seven days long and we had always wished they were longer. It turns out that twelve days is plenty of cruise lifestyle for us.
