Bryan's Birthday (extended edition)

Thursday, June 25, 2015
Seattle, Washington, United States
In what I'm sure must have been a ploy to lengthen his day of celebration and remain as young as possible for as long as possible, Bryan planned a travel itinerary for today that has us crossing four time zones.

We woke in Pennsylvania . Desmond and I had slept particularly poorly last night. So, seeing as we had seen the historical sites downtown yesterday and had a long stretch of travel ahead of us, we took it easy this morning. I took care of Desmond while Bryan slept in, and then he took over while I took a nap.

Annaliese and the kids surprised Bryan with red velvet cake and a birthday song. So that was fun. Then we said our goodbyes and Annaliese dropped us off at the airport.

We wanted to get Chipotle for lunch. It took some doing (walking back and forth and riding a shuttle to avoid extra security checks) but we got Bryan his Chipotle birthday lunch. Yum!

Then we picked up some more of those good soft pretzels and not too long after got on a plane bound for Seattle.

Desmond was really good on our over five hour flight. He got very tired at one point and cried a bit, but nothing to be embarrassed about. He *did* manage to grab the cup of the little girl sitting behind us and dump it all over. Oops! But she forgave him and was soon back to making faces at him and saying how cute he was.

Our row-mate was an answer to prayer. She had a son of her own about Desmond's age, so she was extremely happy to be sitting by him. Thank you, Lord.

He was pretty squirrelly by the end of the flight, but that only seems fair. I was ready to be off the plane as well. We touched down without incident in Seattle and had time only to use the restroom before it was time to board our next flight.

Fortunately, we deboarded at gate N6 and our next flight was loading at gate N7, so it couldn't have been simpler to make our connection.
