Down the Thames

London, England, United Kingdom
After a nice long respite, we were ready to go down the river in search of a fish and chips place that Bill had suggested. We used our Oyster cards to board the clipper and took the boat down the river to Greenwich.
Stepping off onto the pier, we took a look around and didn’t immediately see the restaurant. We also couldn’t remember what it was called. We checked the map, but there were, naturally a number of fish and chips places so, we used our “phone a friend” and texted Bill for a hint. He gave us directions, and then what he thought the name was, and finally a description of the inside of the restaurant. With this wealth of new information we were able to easily find the restaurant. We ordered a large cod fish and chips to split, which they cooked fresh. Meanwhile, we fought with our straws, trying to make them stay in our (unfortunately stevia sweetened) 7Up. I teased that what would really make them stay is if we could stick them in between some ice cubes.
When our fish came it was huge! We were glad we had chosen to split an order. It turned out to be really tasty, as well. Fresh from the friar, the food also managed to be hotter than the restaurant, which was notable. We enjoyed our meal, paid using our phone for contactless pay, and then stepped back out into the fresh air to walk about Greenwich.
We walked over to the Royal Navy College and enjoyed being at the site of a scene in one of the Thor movies. It is always fun to travel to places that are recognizable.
Then we got back on the clipper and rode the boat down to Shakespeare’s Globe and enjoyed our (now customary) evening stroll along the South Bank. Being a Monday night, it was less crowded than it had been on the weekend, but there were still plenty of people. We were walking back a bit earlier today so the buskers hadn’t set up in the tunnels yet (or maybe that is only on the weekends?) and it was light enough for me to read a plaque about the ruins of a palace we keep wandering past in the dark.
Tomorrow the plan is to take a train to Cambridge and then a bus over to The Imperial War Museum in Duxford England. Bryan went online and purchased train tickets, and I downloaded and used the app to reload our Oyster cards, so we are good to go there. Good night!
