Last Day in Nantucket

Nantucket, Massachusetts, United States
Thanks largely to the open bar, fantastic band and into the night dancing at the wedding reception, everyone appears to have slept in late today. Clearly, several have hangovers and the day winds up slowly.

There is a brunch sponsored by the mother of the bride which we are driven to. We leave the nicely paved roads of Nantucket and meander down soft sandy back roads between the narrow confines of foliage of all kinds. We arrive and decide we will walk back once the time comes. The van is scratched from the bushes and we need the exercise!

The brunch was great and provided us a view of the middle of the Nantucket island. Surrounded by scrub brushes and tress, there are waterways and small ponds which we can view in the back of the home.

We walk back to our HaPenny abode passing strange sites along the road and discovering the inventor of automotive power steering in a graveyard.

I remember to take a few pictures of the Nantucket streets and homes which are typical of the downtown area. One thing we begin to notice. Sometimes the homes are painted only on the front side that faces the public streets. The rest remains weathered, unpainted wood.
