Icy Strait Point awaits us. This is our only destination where I did not arrange a specific excursion. Before leaving our cabin for breakfast, Casey suggests we should go whale watching. I hear a strange sound outside the porthole as our ship works its way up the inner passage. Whale watching? Just look out the porthole honey. Amazing!

Unfortunately, the seas were too rough and the whale watching tours were canceled . This forced us to relax a day touring the cannery, shopping for gifts (the Icy Strait Point wooden gift boxes with coffee mugs, salmon and other treats were a big hit at Christmas time). Perfect lazy day. Find a nice wood fire and a cold Alaska pale ale.
