Kissing Hubbard Glacier

Hubbard Glacier, Alaska, United States
The crewman tells me at breakfast that our captain loves this ship. Thanks to its side thrusters, it has been designed to execute micro-maneuvers that allow docking in extremely tight spaces. This also allows this enormous vessel to sidle up upon mountainous glaciers. I later learn that our crazy captain is one of the very few that ever gets this close to the glacier. Most cruise ships observe it from ΒΌ mile away. I feel I can reach out and touch the thing. Casey seriously becomes concerned as we draw nearer and large icebergs calf off the mountain. She has never watched the movie "Titanic". Today is our wedding anniversary.
