Train Ride - Sousse to Tunis

Tunis, Tunisia
Today was our lazy day. We relaxed on the train ride from Sousse back to Tunis. We had decided to against adding a remote third city destination to our itinerary. Most all of our options involved places far away with few hotel options and little information available to guide our selection. Let's return to the capital city where lodging options abound and 3 star hotels are guaranteed. Based on a recommendation from Kelsey, we check into the El Jem hotel. One of the few downtown hotels with triple rooms and it is less expensive than the Carlton!

Once again, I am reminded that what I normally would consider a 1 ½ star hotel warrants 3 stars in Tunis . I note a large book at the check in counter and interpret the French written on it to be a book of complaints. It is full – hundreds of pages full. Thank goodness, I don’t read Arabic or French. I leaf through the pages anyway eyeballing the reception dude. I consider asking him if this place rents rooms by the hour.

I choose to relax and watch Patton on the TV in French while the girls go to the airport to meet Ted. He is also a T.J. Watson fellow who Kelsey has agreed to help get settled as he enters Tunis and she exits.
