Carytown

Up at the crack of dawn (NOT), we pile into two cars and begin our day with the traditional walk down Carytown.

Carytown

Carytown is a downtown retail district which includes over 300 shops, restaurants, and offices. It is known for having a bohemian flair and high-end, independent retail shops and boutiques. It is also home to one of the city's most beloved institutions, the Byrd Theatre, a restored movie palace that has operated continuously since 1928 and shows second-run films for a famous $2 ticket price. Carytown is the home of the annual Carytown Watermelon Festival and more recently the Zombie Walk. As family tradition dictates, we dine at the Coppola's Deli and meander into and out of shops that sell used records, books and clothing.

Fully nourished and ready for the peaceful solitude of a nature walk, we head to Belle Isle.
