Day 2 Heading to Green River

Monday, September 11, 2017
Green River, Utah, United States
We left Loveland around 7:30 am. We bypassed Denver taking the 76 to the 70 but still managed to hit rush hour traffic which slowed us down a bit. 70 fwy west is a beautiful drive along the Colorado River. First we drove by Rocky Mountain National Park and past Breckenridge. There was a lot of construction along the way and single lanes.
Then we drove through the Veterans Memorial Tunnels - very long through the mountains. There were lots of other tunnels along this route. We entered the White River National Forest at 11000'.  We drove through Vail and from here on saw many beautiful ski resorts with Aspen to the south of us. We saw Copper Mountain Ski Resort and Independence Pass. But the highlight of this route was the Glenwood Canyon - absolutely spectacular! We fueled up at Grand Junction at Loves: 43.268 gals at $2.889/gal total $125.
Arrived at Green River at 3:00 pm. Shady Acres RV and Campground. $39.65/night with Good Sam's discount. Sites were close together and they put us at the back but park was not full. Had satellite despite all the trees.
