West Glacier

Today we left at 8:00 am to ride to West Glacier on Hwy 2. It wasn’t the best road in the beginning with 5 miles of gravel construction - not good for our Spyder. Even once we got on pavement it was a narrow windy road almost until we got to East Glacier town. It was a cold ride over at 46 degrees. We passed Medicine Two Lake and didn’t stop but hear it was nice.
Driving by Paola Ridge we could see a couple of fires smoldering. On the way home the fires had spread and so had the smoke.
Upon arriving at West Glacier we entered into the park and stopped at Apgar Village which nestled on McDonald Lake - absolutely beautiful until you could see the smoke of the Howe Ridge fires looming at the opposite side of the lake. They said this would be a long term fire
The day was sunny and a balmy 72 degrees and after wandering around for a while had lunch at West Glacier Restaurant- nothing memorable. For $10 we got a grilled cheese with one thin slice of ham and Swiss cheese on white bread and fries - adequate but expensive for what you got.
We headed back to the RV via 464 road through Browning. No more construction for us!
