"Malaysia improves in CPI ranking"  [The Sun, Malaysia, 2012-Dec-6]
"Malaysia has recorded a slight improvement in the Corruption Perception Index, up six rungs to 54 out of 176 countries, according to the global corruption watchdog Transparency International. The CPI, which measures the degree to which corruption is perceived to exist in a country, uses 13 different surveys and country assessments from independent institutions.
"In the Bribe Payers Survey, Malaysia recorded 50% of respondents answering yes when asked if their company had lost a sale or contract because a competitor had paid a bribe. The survey also asked respondents to rate how common it is for public officials to demand or accept bribes, and 48% answered 'very common'."
