Lone Pine, California, United States
We were at Las Vegas Bay campground, paying $5 a night. Got to visiting with a couple that said they paid $2.50 a night. Couldn't pass that up, so off to Lone Pine CA.

Nice campground . They were right $2.50 a night.

Went to the end of the road to Mount Whitney. Just jaw dropping beautiful.
The tallest peak in the lower 48. 14,494 ft. Hugh pine trees, small pond for kids to fish, waterfalls and a creek.Lots and lots of pictures.

In town there is a Film theater museum. Over 350 films have been made here in the Alabama hills and the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Everything from North to Alaska , Ironman, lots of old westerns, Rawhide , Bonanza, Star Trek , Tremors,Gunga Din, How the west was won.

There is a loop you can drive that takes you in a big circle. Wow! it is amazing. Hugh rock formations that you can really use your imagination on, and see all kinds of thing.

Lots of hiking, backpacking, biking and jeep trails.

Easy to run out of time before you run out of things to do.

We loved it here and had a great time.
