Mae Sai, Thailand
Are you about Wat-Ed out  We are!! Ok I'll just show you some really cool pictures.

the architecture in these buildings amaze me . Some of these were made before routers, skill saws . Drills. Table saws .

its so fascinating looking at these. Even the chedi's ,these were usually built to bury kings and

queens in. They remind us of Mexicos Mayan pyramids. They are not as large of course , but

do have some structural similarities .

Between the carved iron wood pillars ,doors, and pictures. Then you have the murals on so many

temples. Then the scrolling and whatever the curling things are on the corners of the roofs.

There are small colored mirrors implanted for dragon scales . They are also above doors .

The artist are truly talented

 Monday 12th

We had a very strange experience today.

We decided to take a day long tour----DAY LONG TOUR!!

We left at 7;30 am and returned at 8:30 pm

Oh our aching backsides!!

Anyway------- We had a Chinese family behind us, a Taiwan, to our left French in front of us a

and 4 German ladies ahead of them , then our tour guide and driver who were Thais . Now

normally if we can not understand them , they can not understand us and sign language

  begins.

So was very disconcerting for everyone to be talking in there own language and no one else

could understand but when we spoke everyone knew what we were saying.. because everyones second language was English.

So our first stop in a hot springs. Not really very much to look at but it does spout out

constantly and you can see the steam, so I would guess very hot.

Then on to the White Temple.

This place is really something!

An Artist decided he wanted to make a Wat , he has been 20 years creating this one and has

another 20 years to finish it.

Everything is white and silver. It really is lovely.

As you walk in the gate you must ring the bell 3 times for entry.

then you start walking the path and you must go by Hell and see all the people that did not

make it to heaven .

Then its up up up and over a bridge to get your first glimpse of Heaven.

What a sight awaits you.

It is Beautiful, the amazing amount of work.

Then there is one building that stands by itself for it is all gold.

Guess what it is-----------------Temple-----------nope!!

The boys and girls room yup the toilet!!

This thing is all gold and gorgeous!

From here we went to The Golden Triangle River Boat Tour it is an hour and a half.

This is the Mekong River and it connects Laos, Thailand, Burma and north to China.

But the Golden Triangle Are the three countries.

There is an island in the center of the three that is no mans land. No one owns it.

Our guide told us you can kill your wife or husband here and no problem. Unless you

leave. (Then free meals and room. In jail)

Then on to Mae Sai it is a border town to Burma. There is shopping everywhere!

Every alley , road , nook , and cranny------there is something to buy!!

Then headed back to the long necks

They are refugees

At the age of 5 they put necklace brace on the girls necks to stretch them.

Every 5 years they take the necklace brace off and add more rings to it to stretch it some more.

Until the age of 45.

Then we headed home. A long day!
