Amphawa, Samut Songkhram, Thailand
Got on a mini van this morning headed out to Amphawa
I have no idea how to pronounce it .

the place we rented I had thought was a hotel , turned into a home stay.

a very sweet women and her son have remodeled their home to be a five bed Homestay .

they do serve breakfast, wifi works , TV works but only Thai. The nice thing about watching

TV in a language you do not understand is that you get to makeup your own story,

when she's yelling at him ...it must be because he forgot to pick up some milk? Right?

The rooms are very small, but they have queen bed. Our own bathroom...no sink and it is clean..

It will do for 2 nights.

when the taxi pulled into the parking lot , Roy asked me what we had gotten into ..

You walk thru a narrow walkway that leads like a maze zig zagging thru homes.

some no more than roofs over 4 pedestals. With quilts hung up for privacy .

others are nice homes ,small but live able .

There are hotels , hostels, and guest houses every nook and cranny here.

This part of town is built up on stilts

The tide comes in and the water rises to the tops of the sidewalks. When the tide goes out its a

muddy river bottom. Mae Klong River.

this town is built on both sides right along the side of the river.

Everything takes place on both sides of the river, stores ,cafes, sale booths, clothes .

they even have a stall of all kinds of cooked bugs, I know they are talking about that in the U.S.

Now ,but it's a reality here, people were stopping and buying them!! Not Me!

Protien is one thing but I'll figure out how to get it some other way.

If I need it that bad I'll buy peanut butter , it's pricey here , but our preferred protien vs bugs.

It is 6pm and the music from the Bar down the road just started.

It it is so loud they are hurting our ears! They cannot possibly tell if the singers have good voices!

All you you hear is the drums!

. We're booked for two nights, we will be lucky to survive one.

Oh, Boy!

I guess we lucked out it was a floating barge with karaoke after half an hour it left! !!

life is sooo good .

It was kind of a nice night we walked both sides of the river and got a pricey ...ok meal

got back just as it started to Rain

Thought we would settle in for the night , then the music started.

This is one of those resort towns that during the weekend Bangkok floods here and so do

tourists, this is one of the big floating markets in Thailand.

it also has the train market. Which I am hoping to visit on Saturday.

The floating market consists of a whole bunch of long tail boats coming together

They have all kinds of food, There are floating cafes that cook your food very quickly

and serve it to you,,or boats that have produce for your daily grocery shopping, some boats have

nothing but seafood, huge lobsters, jumbo shrimp, octopus , squid, snapper, sea bass cod,

snakehead fish( which they leave on when cooked, and serve you!)

Eggs, breads, anything you need for the daily meals or the meal prepared for you to just take

  home.

Thais put prepared food into plastic bags ,they whip out a rubber band whirl it around several

time and wa la it will not leak! Now the challenge is to get that rubber band off without dumping

the whole thing. It is an acquired knack. Once you get the hang of it , works great!

i promise to have a better entry tomorrow .

We we have been laid back for a few days, not really doing much. Then when you move

to a new town by the time you settle in, and look around a bit , the days gone.

Will see see what's interesting tomorrow .
