Train market

Amphawa, Samut Songkhram, Thailand
Went for an early morning walk.

Its always nice to see everything before it's covered with people .

this is the front to our Homestay.

walking along on an empty town sidewalk.

Gives you a lot better view of what it looks like.

Roy says you might not want to consume to many whiskeys before walking around.

you might step over the edge and get a free bath in the Mea Klong River,

Early every morning the monks come out and collect whatever food the locals offer.

 In return you

receive a blessing. A Monk cannot touch anything directly from a women.

So she hands it to a

man and he hands it to the Monk , then the Monk blesses both of them

This water lizard, Roy says is about 6ft from tail to nose.

 This is a cool Market

we caught a truck taxi across town to go to this famous market.

they line all their stuff up for sale each day ,

all the things close to the track have to be precisely placed.

three times a day there is a warning whistle and all the awnings are pushed back to the sides.

all people clear the tracks and the train passes by.

as it leaves all the awnings go back down and sales resume as normal.

once again this has every thing you need for a days cooking.

I have to admit this was a bit overpowering

The fish smell was to much , we had a quick look and pictures then got out of there.

with the awnings down it was so enclosed no air moved.

In the most open air markets you can hold your breath and walk fast to escape the smell.

no way of getting away from this , except to get out.

When you go into a new country, it's like a large treasure hunt,

you know what you want to find at the end of the hunt, you just have to

get really good at picking up clues along the way, to achieve your goal!

the Thais are really wonderful people and most of the time they ask someone around them until

they are able to make you understand where you have to go to get what you want .

on the other hand.......if they have tried and not succeeded they are very good at passing your

  problem off to someone else.

So they point you in a direction and tell you to go.

so off we go,

We walk about 1/2 a mile in the city ,then try to find someone that we can get to

  understand just

  a couple of words.

We found her....Internet. SIMM card... She gets it. Big smile shakes her head yes and points to

straight ahead and then to the right.. Off we go !

we Walk about 1/2. Mile

Hot Dikity dog we found a Mall!

A Mall always means some sort of a computer store and if we

are lucky an AIS where we can get our simm card reloaded for our last month of Internet .

Treasure Hunt....Successful !

Sad to say not all treasure hunts end with the treasure!

 Real bummer!

this is our only failure so far on this trip.

We so wanted to go see these monkeys.

they are swimming monkeys.

You rent a boat for a few hours go out with some bananas.

and the monkeys will swim out to get the bananas from you.

We asked everywhere, they would send us to someone else.

Then try to send you back to the

guy that just sent us to him!

About an an hour going around in circles

(I know .. We are use to that) we had to declare defeat!

maybe we can find them somewhere else in our journey.

tomarrow will be another real adventure.

The owner of our hotel says we have to go to Bangkok.

we don't want to go to Bangkok when there is another route,

so will see what happens... Stay tuned for the next adventure .
