Cusco, Peru
We arrived in Cuzco last Thursday morning on an overnight bus from Puno and were met at the bus terminal by a representative of the hostal at 4:45 AM. The hostals in Cuzco do things a little differently and I must admit that this was a very nice touch. Cuzco is the gateway to Machu Picchu and it is probably the most beautiful little city that we have ever seen. The energy is wonderful, especially considering the large number of travellers who come through here every day. I had no idea how beautiful this city was since I had not really read anything about it, but 6 days later we were still here and soaking it all up.

We hiked up to the ruins on the outskirts of Cuzco today and we're off on a 2-week journey through the Sacred Valley (el Valle Sagrado) tomorrow morning during which we'll no doubt be doing lots more hiking to ruins, to be capped off by a hike up to Machu Picchu on April 6
