Puerto Baquerizo Moreno is the main port of entry to Isla San Cristobal and is the capital of the Galapagos Islands. That said, it is a pretty quiet and laid back place where truthfully only few travellers hang around. Most people who make it here, either do so as part of a cruise or fly in or transfer in by lancha to catch a cruise. Consequently, it would appear that the amount of tourism dollars injected into the local economy here is sadly relatively low.
We spent our final 5 nights in the Galapagos here
. There are many excellent sites within walking distance ... snorkling and some hiking trails are available nearby which adds to the attractiveness of this island. The best snorkling during our stay however was out around a place called Kicker Rock, a 45 minute boat ride away, where Nat swam amongst the white tipped sharks and eagle rays. My shoulder unfortunately kept me from doing that. This was also the place where colonies of sea lions were the most accessible and a joy to watch as they sunbathed, cuddled with each other, swam, stretched and posed.
