Fun day in Mijas

Benalmadena, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands
Another fun day but before I tell you about it, I just want everyone to know that I do not reread what I have written so please ignore any mistakes.
We had another fun day of different adventures . Our day started by walking to where we could catch Bus 121 to take us to Mijas. On our walk we had to walk by the landmark that they call the Windmills - lol - We call them pinwheels but you can see them glittering for a long way. After waiting for awhile across from the park (where we walked the other day and saw all the birds)the bus came.  Forgot to tell you about this guy giving me a pretty hard push because we were blocking the sidewalk I guess. Didn't realize I was but sure moved closer to the street after that lol BUT IT WAS VERY FULL SO WE HAD TO STAND and it was a long ride up into the hills to get to our stop.
First thing we did after arriving in Mijas was to go on a short tour of a chocolate factory. The young gentleman that explained everything for us was British and he did an awesome job. He was very knowledgeable and pretty funny. At the end he showed us a special door that supposedly the UmpaLoopas (from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) came in at night. Sharon had to bend over to walk through it. Then of course we had a special treat and drink at the place. The dark chocolate was very good, just my kinda place. CHECK OUT WHAT KIND OF CHOCOLATE BAR I BOUGHT,
Then we walked around the town square and checked out the stores. There were LOTS OF LEATHER for sale and I bought a cheap bag to carry my stuff around. Of course miss organized Sharon already had one to keep all her stuff, get her groceries in etc, couldn't have her be the only organized one . LOL.
We enjoyed walking around checking out the back streets and the small shops. They screw flower pots on the outside of their homes and they look really cool. They also love to have lots of plants around their places, of course they are plants that we have to all grow in our houses. We enjoyed looking down onto the town square and watching the people. It is amazing how everyone looks exactly like they do in Canada except when they talk it is not English. It just does not make sense how people can be so cruel and hateful to each other.  This is one of the white villages and it is very beautiful. Sharon just needed to feel the top of this old guys head lol. There was one tower that had different sizes of bells and it tolled on the hour. They also had fountains with amazing details with tiles, someone sure did a lot of work.
For lunch we went to this cool looking little restaurant that we could look down into the town square and had a nice meal. Funny thing was that Sharon and Ed were finished their appetizer and main course before Tom and I got our pizza. The pizza was different - we ordered one with mushrooms, ham, anchovies and chorizo - it came with 2 slices of each topping not all the toppings all over the pizza. Tom and I also tried Sangria and it is very good. Sharon and Ed already love it, so learned a new drink. In the cooler as you walk into the restaurant they have huge pieces of prime rib, Ed said he would love to cook one of those, I said we would love to eat it
One of the special things about this place was supposed to be the donkeys, well we only saw 2 donkeys that kids were on. Sharon and I did not want to be out done LOL. They also had lots of beautiful bird of paradise flowers growing around the place where we had to catch the bus back down.
We got lined up to catch the bus and made it on the bus first this time, so we had seats right up at the front. We also got to watch these two ladies try and fool the bus driver, didn't work. The one lady paid and the other had her dog wrapped in a coat/scarf and tried to sneak him on. The driver went back and very loudly in Spanish told the lady she could not have a dog on the bus. YAE for the bus driver
Got off at our spot and walked through the park and again watched the birds on the little lake. Ed and Tom told us about how they ran through the park that morning and the birds were flying up and almost hitting Tom as Ed was ducking behind Tom. We laughed Then we saw a nice rose on the walk back to our hotel and Tom took my picture with it. We each had supper in our rooms then we got together to play Skip Boo - Ed won 2 games, I won 2 games and Tom won one and I think Sharon won the last game but we laughed because she needed help from all of us to do it.

I think you are having more fun because you have a friend who would get up on a donkey with you! It's probably Sharon 's first time ever on a donkey lol! It's too cute that you two can't be left behind in anything lol
That flower of paradise is in SA too, but we call it strelitzia or something, such a beautiful thing!
For some reason I'm always hungry when I read your stories and I just get hungrier, especially after your photos of prime rib! Good for the guys who's running every morning. Could you guys please be travel buddies with Richard and I in , say, 20 years? Lol
