Up very early to be on the bus at 6am, 4 hours later we were surrounded by snow in Los Penitentes
. We hired ski suits and all the gear in Mendoza so when we arrived we got our lift passes and headed straight to the slopes. It was my first time skiing so I was pretty excited.
We put our ski´s on and headed over to slope D (see map in pic´s), for beginners. Lizzie hadn´t skied for 6 years but as soon as she got on the slopes she was a pro, at least compared to me. I did pick it up pretty quickly and didn´t fall over on the first few runs.
Once I got some confidence we moved on to slope C which was longer and steeper. After this it got more difficult (at least for me) as we moved on to slope B, a blue run. After falling over a few times we had a quick break for lunch and headed back to slope B before getting on the chair lift all the way up to slope G. We skied along the blue run down to the bottom which was awesome, though slightly frustrating for me at some of the steeper sections! We spent the rest of the afternoon on this run honing my skills while Lizzie whizzed past. I got pretty confident towards the end and even had a go on a red section and went ´off-piste´ (I got the lingo) a few times!
By the end of the day we were knackered but loved it...definately have plans to go again at some point, though in Europe I´m sure it´ll be slightly more than £35 all-in!
