08 Cleanup

Lots of cleanup items to complete in
the Everglades before travelling north .
Had a weekend in Tampa visiting Cindy's
pregnant daughter and son-in-law. Attended a backyard party that
included three bands (check link below) during the afternoon plus
free micro-brewery ale; glad I was not driving. Tried sailing on
Sunday before returning to the Everglades but lack of wind stymied
things a bit; but it was still relaxing to motor around Tampa Bay.
Loaded all of Cindy's stuff into a pod
that is now heading north to Wisconsin. Cleaned the Glade Hut from
top to bottom before leaving on Good Friday. Spent a spectacular
first night in Osceola National Forest in northern Florida where we
had a great campsite for $4 that included hot showers in the morning.
Tried to stay in the Chattahoochee National Forest in northern
Georgia but the campground was closed due to “bad” water;
however, we did get to literally go over John's mountain via
switchbacks while searching for a home. The last two nights coming to
Toronto were thus spent in cheap motels near Chattanooga TN and
Dayton OH.
Whizzed through the border with no
hassles. Also, I have found summer homes for my kayak Erik Too and my
Honda Baby Too as this summer we will be exploring Washington,
British Columbia, Yukon (for the Demster Highway) and Alaska...
Stay tuned for more adventure stories
starting late May...
