06 Gasparilla

Palma Ceia Park, Florida, United States
From Alexander Springs, we had an easy drive to Tampa to visit Amanda and Danny plus Cindy's three grandkids (Harper, Henry and Hadley). We came for the kids soccer games and as a bonus got to see the children's' Gasparilla parade (next weekend is the adult version) which was a short walk from the house. Lots of parade float pictures attached for this four hour event which likely had around a hundred thousand people attending alongside the waterfront.
At Hadley's game, she played well in goal for the first half then defence for the rest of the game. The two year age spread on the teams definitely makes for a variety of children sizes; but Hadley holds her own against the bigger kids (at home as well). Harper had a tournament in Sarasota and I got to watch her third game which she unfortunately lost (they beat this opponent the day before) thereby missing out in the finals. Assuming no injuries and the drive to keep playing, this sport should keep Harper challenged well into adulthood. Yukon was an avid fan at both the games.
On Sunday we all dined out (thanks Danny & Amanda) at a Mexican Seafood restaurant which was a great way to end our stay in Tampa – I had the Shrimp Quesadilla which was tasty and with all the sides, extremely filling. Cindy unfortunately had her temporary tooth pop off the mount which means this needs to be fixed as soon as possible in Miami.
After the kids went to school Monday morning, it is time to continue South Again – stay tuned.
