Left Tampa once the kids went to school then headed East to Bull Creek Wildlife ManagementArea (WMA) to see Kate and Scott. Had a great fire on both nights and went for a buggy ride around the local neighbourhood. Although the visit was short, it is great seeing and sharing time with Kate and Scott.
Heading South we stopped in Okeechobee for a beer with Pete & Lesley then continued on to Okaloacoochee Slough State Forest (SF) for a one night stand at Panther Pond. Tried to pay for our site but no callback was received. A Barred Owl made a flyover just before the Mosquitoes drove us into the camper at dusk.
On our way to Mitchell's Landing in the Big Cypress National Preserve (NP), we stopped at Grimm's Seafood in Everglade City for a Stone Crab dinner treat. Although I booked a crappy campsite, all sites now have to be booked online. Dinner was delicious with a side salad and wine.
Early the next morning we headed to Costco for some supplies and to pick up my Samsung Galaxy S9+ Tablet. Off again, we headed to Long Pine Key campground in the Everglades National Park (NP) for our visit with Laura and John from Montana and Idaho.
We shared dinner and breakfast along with many stories to bring everyone up to date on our lives over the past couple of years.
After the Everglades we headed to Zach and Shari's house so we could go to the kid's nearby soccer practices, Cindy's appointments and visit friends. We had a light dinner with Georgia and Joe at the Falls; the following night some beer with James, the Everglades+ fire guy, on his birthday.
Cindy sold Raven, her RAV4, to the local Toyota dealer and Yukon finally got his microchip implanted just in case he wanders off without us. On a different note, Iris and Shari went to the Olivia Rodrigo rock concert in downtown Miami; the videos showed that they both had a blast.
Took a ride to Anne's Beach in the Keys where Yukon (and Cindy) had a great wet time. On our return, we dropped in on Georgia and Joe before tucking ourselves in for the night.
I got to dog sit while everyone else went to the Pinecrest Carnival. We also babysat Saturday night with pizza for dinner and a Harry Potter movie afterwards. On our last day we took it easy and packed.
Stay tuned for our Tampa Spring Break in the next Blog.
