Mitchell Landing Big Cypress National Preserve, Florida, United States
Left Tampa after the kids went to school and headed for Miami to reclaim our camper from Zach and Shari's driveway. Once reconnected, we headed to Mitchell's Landing in the Big Cypress National Preserve (NP) where we settled into our reserved campsite. We sat by the Landing with a Frisbee for Yukon and a beer for us; the breeze with shade cooled us off significantly. The Bald Cypress trees now have new, bright green needles.
Went for a ride along Loop Road - this gravel road is now almost smooth; in fact it was so good we came back the same way. We saw a Fox Squirrel and lots of Gators plus numerous wading birds; slowly training Yukon that Gators are not for dogs. Sweetwater Strand is still my favourite spot on this road.
Got up early so we could drive to Miami for Cindy's Doctor appointment; very few delays on the roads Thursday morning. While Cindy was busy with the Doctor, Yukon and I kept the ducks in the artificial lake.  We spent the rest of the afternoon at the Landing and got to meet the District Rangers from the Everglades and Big Cypress when they returned from their training run checking route markers.
So ends a peaceful four days; stay tuned for the Miami March Break Blog--
Tidbits:
