Inga Lake Recreation Site, British Columbia, Canada
Although we didn't really want to leave the Yukon, it was time to start wending our way back. Our dog, Yukon, seems to be healing slowly but he still has trouble swallowing. Upon leaving Watson Lake we drove our way through British Columbia (BC) on the AlCan Highway. Muncho Lake Provincial Park (PP) had lots of Caribou on the roadsides; continuing on we ended up at Muskwa River Recreation Site (RS) where we grabbed one of the two remaining campsites. Traveling on holiday weekends (in this case, Labour Day) was not the wisest decision, especially during hunting season. The JetBoats go up river into the park for Elk and Moose hunting; they travel in packs with lots of gear. At least we had a nice semi-secluded spot with lots of firewood available.
On our drive we saw three Bison herds (including two roadkill) and a dozen Caribou. We drove an extra distance because Duhu RS was packed with too many transients and the next place beyond Pink Mountain was a long haul. Inga Lake RS had lots of campsites available but the water quality is dismal due to the tremendous amount of fracking in the area.
The rest of the drive through BC on the AlCan Highway was relatively simple with mainly straight roads through Fort St John and Dawson Creek where the Alaska Highway starts. Stay tuned for the next Blog from Alberta.
Tidbits:
  • Bears 21:6 Moose
  • JetBoats are really expensive
