New York City, New York, United States
August 16 - New York we come
so we go on because we wanted to see New York. We arrive at JFK and take the subway towards the center and the YMCA youth hostel, because Carol reserverd here a room for us.
Because of all the rain parts of the subway system was closed and we had to move and take the bus, and again the subway... when we arrived at the YMCA they didn't know anything about our reservation... but at least they had a room for one night...
and so the Swabians discover the big city

August 17
moving around can be stressful, so we waited and hope some people leave the YMCA today, and an hour later we got 3 bed in a 12 bed room...
by subway we went to the 5th Ave, because here it is where you should go shopping... afterwards we visited the Empire state building to see Manhatten from the top.
In the evening when having icecream we met some from a New York church who invited us to their bible club.

August 18
there was so much to do, but one thing we got done: Ellis Iland - we went to the Statue of Liberty with 3 hours waiting before you can go up!!!! so we gave up and went back - to the broadway... playing some billiard in the youth hostel, having pizza and then we went to sleep on our rubber matrasses!!!

Going home - August 19
it is our last day in the US, so being again a tourist we checked out the St. John Divine Church in Harleem - they say one day it will be the largest church in New York - if it is finally completed.
by the university and we go to the airport, and discover that our place has 3 hours delay, so we get 12 $ from Lufthansa for a meal - because we were really hungry skipping breakfast and hoping for some food on the plane - so we had enough for eating and icecream.
and then in Germany in the first class ont he train from Frankfurt to Stuttgart... and then we are back home
