Took a late morning flight with Air Asia ($130) from Phuket to Chiang Mai, up in the northwestern part of Thailand. Originally I planned to take the train via Bangkok. But flying the distance saved me almost 2 days. Found a decent guesthouse in Old Town named "Safe House Court" and hoped it kept its promise during my stay ;)
In the afternoon i checked out the nearby temple, wrote some postcards and updated my travel blog . The north is also a welcome escape from the southern humidity. Had dinner at the Chiang Mai Writers Club, what seemed like the popular hangout for aging western castaways and new expats.

Nahm den spaeten Morgenflug mit Air Asia ($130) von Phuket nach Chiang Mai, in den nordwestlichen Teil von Thailand. Urspruenglich plante ich den Zug ueber Bangkok zu nehmen. Aber der Flug spart mir fast 2 Tage Reisezeit.
Nach meiner Ankunft fand ich ein Guesthouse in der Altstadt namens "Safe House Court" und hoffte, es hielt sein Versprechen waehrend meines Aufenthaltes ;)
Am Nachmittag schaute ich mir einen nahen Tempel an, schrieb ein paar Postkarten und holte meinen Travel Blog nach. Der Norden Thailand's ist auch eine willkommene Abwechslung vom tropisch-heissen Sueden. Ging zum Abendessen in den Chiang Mai Autorenclub, was augenscheinlich ein beliebter Treffpunkt fuer alternde Gestrandete und neue Abenteurer aus dem Westen ist.
