Out and about in San Francisco... Caught the Hop on hop off bus, its a bit confusing with so many companies doing it now..We got one that went around the down town, saw the Hippy area Haight & Ashbury Streets, we then got off the bus at Golden gate park and walked across the bridge which takes about an hour...Beautiful day not too much fog but quite cool up on the bridge.On the bus on our return, traffic was held up because there was a "Jumper" (someone trying to jump off the bridge) They had him handcuffed and walking him back to the car ..... A pretty regular apparently !
From there we went to Little Italy and had a wonderful lunch, real cappaccinos too ...Then took the walk up a street running parallel to Lombard Street...really steep so we took our time...Got to Lombard street and walked down the Worlds Crookedest Street..
Peter & Jo then went down to the wharf for their boat cruise around Alcatraz and the 2 bridges. I walked back to Union Square through North Beach, Little Italy and Chinatown. Back in Union Square we did some retail therapy, great time at the shops with everyone having sales. A shoe store called DWS right on the square has to be seen to be believed, many a bargain there.
Dinner saw us down in Chinatown at a little old restaurant that was packed out...literally fell upon it, we were advised to go to Jackson street and turn right from a chinese lady in a shop as thats where all the chinese eat..Clearly the best food we have had. Also Peter & Jo said the best beer as well we had to share a table with another couple but it was a great dinner.
Friday we woke up to the shooting in Colarado at the cinema..Tragic ...We slept a little later then took a tour out to Muir Woods & Sausalito . Crossing the bridge , the fog was everywhere, totally different than the day before. The woods were quite amazing it has never been cut unlike other Redwood forests, so the trees are massive..I kept waiting for wood fairies to jump out.
Back in town we caught a cab out to Best Buy (an electrical store) and took Peter shopping and he bought himself a Net book Computer, a GPS and a new Camera. Everything is way cheaper than home, after that I took him around and he bought clothing and shoes, unfortunately his suitcase is now full so I cant fill it !! Bit dissappointing really !
Dinner last night saw us at "Loris's Diner" Burgers & Fries were the go and very good too.
Today Saturday is our last day here.. we took the topless bus again and had lunch down in Little Italy again..we found a place went in and sat down and then we realised there was an arrest going down right there in the restaurant !!! Man & woman both cuffed with about 4 of SFPD finest, including 2 undercovers...So we had full on entertainment while we were having a wonderful lunch..Walked back to hotel and now its time to sort our stuff as we pick upo a car and head to Morro Bay tomorrow...
