Biggest Dinner by far

Safford, Arizona, United States
Today saw Joanne start driving, leaving Farmington, missed our turnoff but kept going and found another..via Shiprock..Once we turned South there Jo drove for 90 minutes before she hit a bend..lol I was fortunate enough to sleep through most of that..After 2 hours she got to veer right on two occasions, so happily traded driving seats with Peter, who after driving 22 miles discovered we were going the wrong way..we nearly ended up in Alberqurque (sic)   He also got to drive through the Desert with hardly a turn and once again I napped through most of that to...But when I took over at Springerville I got to drive through the Apache National Park.. which was 2 1/2 hours of mountain top driving..twists and bends..really beautiful countryside. So the moral to that story is drive last...
When we came out of the Park we drove through a Copper mine, the largest in North America (we asked a guy) It was absolutely massive and went for miles . But the road went right through the middle of it..pretty amazing..Peters little fat digit finger went crazy on his new Lumix..so look out Mum you may just need a week to see all his photos this time.

We pulled into Safford at about 5pm but due to crossing the border from New Mexico to Arizona again we gained an hour so we had time to go to Walmart while Peter did the washing .. Walmart here in Saffort was really getting like the Walmart you see in the emails, there were some interesting sights to say the least, as we head across the South I am sure it will get better.

Dinner tonight was across the road at a Pub/restaurant and what a place that turned out to be..they had stuffed heads of every Native animal you can think of all around the rooms..From Moose to Elk they even had a Rabbit with horns which someone put up to take the Mickey out of all the others. Peter his beer served in a glass the size of a bucket and he had Crab claws for dinner, Jo had Tacos and I ordered Chicken Fried Steak, she asked me what side I would like and I chose salad.. See attached photos for the pictures of the meals... I had 3 plates of food...one for the salad, one for the steak and one for the fries & beans...lol It was really funny.. The staff were excellent and we spent a lot of time talking to them..they even gave Jo some samples of the butter they make..with buns to boot.. Cinnamon butter and Peanut Butter spreads..really quite nice and one of their specialties..

The main industry here is cotton , there is also a lot of mining in the area.. Tomorrow is Tombstone.
