Carlsbad, New Mexico, United States
Another long day driving across No mans land....Pulled out of Bisbee early as we were losing an hour by crossing back into New Mexico...First town we passed through was Douglas which is a Border crossing town with Mexico...All was quiet, we went down near the Crossing so Peter could take a picture of the big fence. Then it was onward to Highway 10 ...We saw many Road runners..yes they are real..A small bird with a longish tail and they run across the road... While we were driving along Peter saw a huge Airship in the distance..We did accuse him of seeing things because we were near Rosswell....Do do do do.... Anyway he was right and got a photo to proove it.
Not much to look at today, we drove through El Paso where I gave Peter the bum steer and we ended up seeing more of El Paso than we expected to see, but he remained calm while I sat in the back eating Humble pie..
We passed a lot of what I thought were feed lots full of Jersey cows but they were Dairy Farms but I think they just keep the cows in small yards and feed them Hay, but there was so many of them..I hate feed lots..Its like the battery Hens.. I think that was in Las Cruces. Where we also crossed the Rio Grande River.
Coming through El Paso we  once again saw the Border of Mexico..Pretty full on with like 2 Canals with a road down the middle which was patrolled. About 15 minutes out of town we had to go through a Border check..They pull you up and have a quick chat all the while the car is put under Infra red lights to see if we were smuggling any wee Mexicans in our luggage... Passed our check and onward again.. travelling along close to the Border like we did today there was a lot of Police on the roads, there were also a lot of those Border patrol checks with the lights.
Closer to Carlsbad caves we passed beside a Missile testing area !!!! Right beside the road, there was also a property for sale right beside the range.....wonder how much that would sell for ?
checked into our Hotel in Carlsbad..tried to fax my claim but cant because they dont do international Faxes, will have to try tomorrow..Bugger !.. The Hotel receptionist recommended a BBQ Pit restaurant for dinner...Thats when we discovered the whole population of Carlsbad was out to dinner.. At the next table was the local Sherriff staff of 3...so it had to be good and it was..The ribs are amazing, waddled home again !! OK diet starts again tomorrow.
No photos today..way to busy..just spent the last couple of hours booking accomodation..ended up speaking to someone in India to book accn in New Orleans and he couldnt understand me...I was ready to poke needles in my eyes rather than repeat myself one more time ! got there in the end though.

I was sorry we didn't get to see a photo of your dinner. I was going to say your ribs but I thought they would be invisible too! We are all getting fat just looking at the photos of what you are eating.
