What a fun day...wonderful to sleep in longer..and catch up on things like washing and emails etc.. picked up at 1045 on the dot and did the crawl around a few hotels to pick up more passengers.. Then a 30 min drive out to Lafitt..named after the famous pirate Jean Lafitt...Passed a house belonging to Steven Segal yes it was huge... Poured with rain all most of the way out and had stopped by the time we got there..The people who did the boats before us were totally soaked...so we went and bought some Ponchos.. but lucky for us they wernt required..
Our boat was a small one so there was only 7 people on board .. Our Captain was a local Cajun guy who was born and bred on the Bayou...we saw heaps of Alligators and our fearless Captain enjoyed teasing them with chicken meat to entice them up out of the water and in some cases onto the side of the boat.. Great photo opportunity..He then asked who wanted a Buweizer beer and reached into his esky and pulled out a baby Alligator and frightened everyone... So we all got a lesson then had a photo opp holding it..Yes I did !! It was fantastic and the Bayous are just like the swamps here and alive with wildlife.
On the docks while waiting to board we found some other Australians and turned out 2 were from Geelong and another 2 from Conargo !!! So Peter rattled off names of blokes in Geelong and they found a few they both knew..It was very funny, they have done a huge trek around America as well... Once back in town we went in search of lunch and found a Po Boy place...Having heard about them but never having one we went to the specialist..Only open 10.to 3 ...they were amazing..like a Sub only with thin warm slices of hot roast beef with salad...when you eat them the moisture runs down your arms..but gosh they were good.. The place was a gambling joint for Football..they had bookies inside.. 
Down to Bourbon Street for dinner at the Red Fish Grill...Beautiful food, but we kept it small with just soups and entrees..then a stroll down for some Big Assed beers..then bed
