St Petes Beach, Florida, United States
Well what can I say....kicking back at the beach and doing absolutely nothing is an awesome way to wind down from a big drive across the country..The Beach is practically empty due to the Hurricane, but this weekend it will be chocka block with it being the Labour day long weekend..As we walk along the beach you can see the different hotels gearing up for events, some live music and others grand functions like weddings...The beaches here are really wide compared to ours in Australia..so theres huge white tents set up down on the sand without fear of the tide coming that far up. probably good that we are off tomorrow heading to Naples..just down the road a bit.
The Hurricane has hit New Orleans yesterday, exactly 7 years to the day of Hurricane Katrina ..spooky hey ! They didnt get a direct hit but got the Eastern side of it and some places have recorded 23 inches of rain ..but generally most got arouns 12/14 inches. They had the pumps all running in the downtown and the place was looking like a ghost town. I think they said that the rain would start to ease late today, then I guess we will see the damage.
We have been enjoying making our own Breakfast, lunch and dinner and its definately a lot cheaper. Even though we have a Hotdog stand right next to the pool, a sandwich has never tasted so good. peter shopped for dinner last night and we dined on Fish stuffed with Crab and then we also had some King Crab with salad..bloody beautiful..the prices of the Crab are rediculous.. so we are enoying it while we can. Tonight we dine on Chicken Pie, veggies and Mashed Potato..yummo .
We havent done a great deal other than sit by the pool and walk along the beach..I got a tad sunburnt yesterday on all my white bits and now they are all pink !! so today I was in the shade reading my book most of the day..its Beer-O'Clock right now so we are camped in the airconditioning.
I forgot to mention the other day when we were in Orlando we visited TJMaxx and Peter has now become a true McCormick Shop-a-holic when it come to that store.. he kept finding stuff to buy..I was having a quiet chuckle to myself and it immediatly bought images of sister Lauren carrying armloads of clothes into the changerooms..I only wish we had it in Australia!!

What no pictures of Peter shopping!! He will need a bigger bag. My friend's son loves shopping in the US as he can get bigger sizes off the rack which he cannot in Australia.
