First night in a tent

Bellview Beach Newfoundland, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada
Early start this morning from St Johns..we choofed off to the Supermarket so Kathryn could buy some cherries, they have the biggest cherries here in Canada and they are beautiful $1.99 per pound, I dont know why they do it in pounds as they use metric like us in Canada. As we are camping tonight we bought some pasta to cook in our Skillet ( the lady in Walmart said they didnt have an electric frypan..only a skillet ..which is exactly the same as an electric frypan). it was a bit windy in St Johns so we were worried about camping tonight.
We are still on the Avalon Peninsula but in the area called Eastern so we basically followed the water around through places with the funniest names, Harbour Main, Chapel Cove,Bacon Cove, Brigus, which was really cute and quite old and was the second settlement by the english . Then Cupid which was the first settlement but not as nice as Brigus. Bay Roberts was next which was quite big and we stopped at Tims for a soup & sandwich, only Kathryn forgot what to order and ended up with a big sandwich and a donut..,then onto Spaniards Bay, Harbour Grace where Amelia Earheardt landed her plane way back when. Carbonear was next then we then crossed to the western side of the Peninsula to Hearts Content where we got Lighthouse pictures, Hearts Desire and Hearts Delight before arriving in Dildo, yes you read right DILDO ! From Dildo we went to South Dildo. A place called Cavendish had three cute little Brighton Beach Boxes, when they would use them I would never know. Then Old Shop which was a disappointment as there was no shop. We then got back onto the Highway and zoomed up to Bellview Beach..we saw the Campground from the road and it was on a long treeless peninsula and by this time it was very windy and we both nearly freaked out.. But as this was the lady who sent me photos of the Icebergs floating by we couldnt really back out ...As it turned out the treeless peninsula was for Day Trippers only and we were up the other end, she changed our site away from the water and it is quite pleasant. Its still windy but bearable I think, time will tell.
Then it was time to put up the tent..the box said it took 1 minute to erect but it took us about 30, however it is up and nailed down so hopefully we dont blow away tonight. Its quite a good tent as it matched my sleeping mat and sleeping bag and my jumper, so I think I will look good..lol
We have no internet here unless we walk back down to the office apparently you can pick it up down there. Might make a trip down later to let the kids know. We also had to borrow an extension cord and it just reaches the tent. So we can cook, boil a kettle and make toast, happy campers. The showers are down at the office as well and cost $3.00, toilets are scattered throughout, ours we will never find in the dark so we will have to squat near the tent somewhere. No Moose or bears apparently.....

Great piccies too. I remember all the lighthouses and little houses painted red, blue and yellow etc. Brings back great memories. Lovin' this blog business!

great pictures! You two are becoming real camping pros. You could teach a course on it and make gas money.
