Trinity, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada
Second night in the tent and it rained so we packed upeverything and loaded the car, then it was time to tackle the dismanteling of the tent ! We got it flat alright but then we were lost so we folded it as small as we could get and wrapped it in the blue tarp and put it intop of everything in the back to sort out later.
What started out wet and foggy turned into beautiful sunshine and about 25 degrees, I was pleased I wore my pluggers and not my boots . We drove up the Trans Canada Hwy as far as Clarenden where we found Tims Place again and as we had missed brekky because of the rain we pulled in here and used the free wifi as well to check emails and upload our blogs.
As we left Tims I told Kathryn that this was where we would be staying on our way back to St Johns...We found our accommodations and what I thought was a motel looks to be a B&B, 3 levels in all in what looks to be an industrial area !!! Descriptions on the internet can be deceiving ..It was named "Island View" sounds tropical doesnt it ! The reason we are hating the multi story accommodations is that our bags are so heavy its difficult to carry our gear up.. We mostly leave our stuff in the car and carry what we need in plastic shopping bags..
Our destination today was Trinity. This was where they made the movie " The Shipping news" Starring Kevin Spacey and Julianne Moore, after seeing that it inspired me to come to Newfoundland and what a treat Trinity is. Absolutly stunning, by far my favourite place so far . The community is keeping the town in sinc with yesteryear, any new homes are to be built in the old style and its just beautiful, add to that the rolling fog that comes in then goes again it just gives it an air of mystery. In the distance the fog horn cuts in and then stops. My photos just dont do it justice.
We walked around the town for a bit then had lunch at the Marina before getting back in the car and visiting first the Lighthouse and then onto Bonadventure Old and New, which are just little backwaters which have been used in a Canadian TV Series Random Passage ,The shipping News and also the last movie was Sacred .......( I have forgotten)
Finally it was back to Trinity Cabins, our vintage accommodations, very kitsch, Lauren would love them. I actually think Moses might have stayed in them when they were new. But we are loving it as we have a small kitchen and a bedroom each as well as an inside shower and toilet, almost like a motel. We have pitched the tent to dry out and also think about how we might fold it up again ? Washing done and hanging over the porch railing..Life is good !
