Twillingate, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada
Twillingate: Rest day at Twillingate today, but after an absolute crap night sleep I was a bit sluggish this morning. No Bread for toast so ate a Muesli Bar instead. Had a lovely hot shower to wake up then we were off to check the changes in the Icebergs. Its amazing how much they change in a short amount of time. You may notice the changes in the photos....then again we have taken so many you probably cant tell.
First stop this morning was Cows Head and Long Point to see the Lighthouse . The view up there was majestic. There were only a few bits of Iceberg but I could just imagine what it would be like at the beginning of the season. No Whales either. After Cows Head we went to Durrell which is only 5 minutes away, just another pretty fishing village. We have seen so many beautiful villages so far that we are finding it hard for some places to make an impression.
We came home for some R&R after that as its hard work being a tourist. I took a photo of some of the rigs here in the RV park....they are massive, on one side we have about 5 of the Bus versions and on the other is about 8 of the 5th wheeler variety with big 3500 Trucks pulling them. It must cost a motsa to run them about. Tonight we also have some Bikies staying. The Bikers here all seem to be well over 50 and all have these Huge kitted out Harleys or some have the Gold Wing, they are certainly impressive. (to me anyway)
Lunch today was at R&J's Diner in town overlooking the marina. You guessed it fish and chips again..or rather not chips they were tiny taters or something, pretty good though . We chatted with a couple from Ontario who were on their way to their boat to go fishing, they have a holiday house here and spend 4 months of the year here..Well he does as she is still working so she comes out for shorter periods. With the weather like we have had here its just glorious.
After lunch we drove to the southern side of town to check out a new iceberg. Part of it had broken off just before we got there so we were told. So we sat for another 30 minutes before I got bored, Kaff stayed to watch and I decided to trek back to the RV Park and walk off some of the fried food I have been so enjoying...It took me an hour & 10 minutes but it was good to stretch the legs out. I got to take some nice photos as you tend to see more when on foot.
We are changing our focus onto clothes lines today. Everyone had these big lines on a Pulley system and attached from the house to a big pole. And you can tell the obssive ones by the way they hang their washing..(Gaynor Perrins take heed)

Now we are back in camp sitting in the breeze under the Spruce trees on the laptops, funny really isnt it. We are planning our schedule for tomorrow as we are off to Fogo Island. We have to catch the Change Island Ferry at 9am and as there are so many travellers we have to get there early.
