New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, Canada
New Glasgow: Filled up the the road machine and pulled out of Camp around 0900, left some food for the squirrel, I know we are not supposed to but we got a lot of enjoyment watching him. Not much traffic today as we drove down Trans Canada Hwy to the Confederation Bridge, we opted for the bridge instead of the ferry because we get caught up in lighthouses etc etc etc.. We went left off the bridge to follow the coast along. First stop of the day was Tidnish Bridge..after driving up every street in Tidnish we finally found it back at the first intersection, it didnt matter as now we can give directions to anyone who wants to visit Tidnish. The river comes of the Bay of Verte and around the bay theres lots of holiday homes. At the town the river flows through and it all looks gorgeous and serene. We went off road a bit to get up to the old bridge and the newer suspension Bridge and took some photos..
Next stop was Pugwash, funny name but beautiful village . I am still loving the old houses they have so much charachter. We spied a light house from the road and then we saw a second one..so we were off and running with cameras at the ready...we found the first one which was out of action due to the tilt at the top, so we went on down this dirt track which was labelled a proper street which is disturbing.. There was a row of small holiday cottages and there were a few men outside gardening and mowing, Kaff thought we had trespassed and as I was turning around on their recently harvested wheat crop , she stuck her head out the window to apologise, next thing you know we were all fast friends..lol we got his life history and all the events in his future anyway he said the road was public and we could go through to the lighthouse. The men were preparing for a wedding this weekend, 120 guests fully catered for in a big Marquee. We went on to the lighthouse. It was probably the crappiest one we have seen so far but as all the wildflowers were all about in full force it was quite beautiful .
On to our next stop Tatamagouche home of the Grain Elevator village, of course we had to stop there for photos and some lunch. Dad has been on my mind a lot these last few days and I think seeing all the wheat fields growing and being stripped just reminded me of our childhood in Wakool , hanging out at the Wheat Silo where Dad worked. I saw some big different farm machinery and was going to take a photo to show him...Funny how things set you off. Love you Dad.xx
Anyways..We stopped by Big Al's for lunch.. I had a lovely Lobster Roll again (yes with fries) and Kaff had some nice grilled Haddock with rice. We decided to walk down to Scotia Bank so Kaff could cash up, but she came out all stressed because she couldnt remember her pin number, anway she rand about 3 different sets of digits at me all of them different so there was no way I could help her. Talk about dumb and dumber, I couldnt even remember any of my phone numbers the other day..I hope we make it home. We went and got in the car then and went to the The Grain Elevator Village and it was closed.. Obviously it was time for us to leave which we did.
We spent the next hour just driving into New Glasgow, The Ferry from PEI comes into here. We havent seen much of the town as our hotel was right at the start of the town. Well located across from the shopping centre. So after check in I went across to Winners which I have found out is owned by TJMAXX my favourite US store. Its still my fave as Canada slugs you more taxes than America. I walked through Sears which is a department store, it wasnt as good as the one in Kamloops so they got none of my money. Winners took me for $20.
Back in the room now enjoying the bed and the TV and the Aircon as we are in the tent for the next 4 nights. Soup at Tims for dinner tonight.
