Travelling in style

Golden, British Columbia, Canada
Saturday:     After all the stop starts delays and catch ups on our train ride across Canada we actually arrived on time ... It did take us over an hour to get our checked baggage and Kaffs bag was the lucky last off...So we ventured outside and joined the massive Taxi queue. 30 minutes later we were in a Taxi with an Indian Sheik with a Turban and we were off..Yes madam I do know where we are going......Yes madam we seem to be lost ! Meter was turned off, he couldn't work out his Navman so we ended up at my suggestion , at a garage where he got directions from a Truckie and even then he stuffed up..I think we went around Vancouver twice and visited some suburbs I didn't know existed but after a stressful hour in the Taxi we finally made it to the RV Hire place in Delta. Mr Turban did apologise for the stressful journey.

We checked into our RV which is totally gorgeous and I love it sic !! Only issue is its freakin massive and is a gas guzzling machine ...a E350 Ford but it has a fridge and a bathroom and 2 big beds and after a tent this is heaven... We quickly got some instructions and threw our gear in the back and took off at 1430, we had a 4 hour trip to Kamloops. After some quality navigation by Kaff we massaged to get out onto the highway without a hitch. The RV is huge and quite floaty to drive with massive ear like rear view mirrors, so it took a while to get used to it but its OK now.
We stopped at Chilliwack for a late lunch and logged on to call our friend Lynne in Kamloops..She as it turned out was just leaving Vancouver with her daughter so I said we would see them on the road...which we did when we were stuggling up a hill near Merret Katie whizzed .. The RV sits on 60 Mpr quite nicely but we were still overtaken by everyone including trucks ans they have raised the speed limit on the Hwy to 120 kph. Anyway we got to Lynnes and Set up camp on her Driveway. She had quickly whipped up dinner and opened a bottle of red in true Kamloopian style hospitality ..great to see her and catch up, thanks Lynne see you on our return.

Sunday:     Busy start to the day, farewelling Lynne and then hitting the Superstore to stock our larder, so nice to have a fridge we are both excited... we even have stuff in the freezer now. We also bought a new toaster & Kettle for $8 each..quality plus !
We loaded the Camper and then went into Tims to catch up with good mate Penny, thanks Penny for the Wine and Mags etc, its going down a treat ( Kaff is watching me drink it )  . We then cashed up some more and hit the road. Highway 1 the Trans Canada.. through Chase, Salmon Arm, Sicamous, Revelstoke and then Golden. We stopped before Revelstoke at the Last Spike ( A railway thing) and had a sandwich in the van. Missing my diners already..
We took a few photos of Revelstoke for the kids as that's where they will soon be heading.
After Revelstoke we were going through Rogers Pass so there was a lot of traffic and the majority of it was behind me... Normally its me cussing out the RVs for slowing the traffic...Kaff said " Not much traffic our way!"  I said check the mirror its all behind us...lol
Anyway we made it to our campground just east of Golden.." The Whispering Spruce" once again its right beside the highway, after a few false starts we have everything connected even to shower & Loo. So we are happy campers, we have a view of a couple of tents and we are very content to snuggle in our vans and think .."Last week that was us !"
Tomorrow we are off up the Icefield Parkway to Jasper and who knows what else.
