Fort St John, BC, Canada
Fort St Johns...Tuesday : Huge day driving on the road today. We left the campground at Jasper around 0900. Kaff got chatting to our RV neighbour and we got some advice regarding Pooping in the Rv Toilet. All sorted now, he gave us some chemical stuff that should do something magical..anyway all good in the world. First stop was 5 minutes out the front gate and Kaff went on the Sky Tram thing. Unfortunately is was still a bit misty so the view wasn't as good as it should have been. Not to worry, next we were off down the hwy towards Hinton. We only got about 15 minutes out and we ran into a bunch of cars stopped. It was 3 Elk laying in the sun by the lake resting. So Canon Kaff armed with the trusty zoom lens was off at great speed. I waited 5 minutes and drove up then took pictures out the window...*(The lazy traveller)
Just before Hinton we took a left turn signposted "To Alaska" and we were off . We stopped at Grand Cashe and got some petrol as it was Alberta and they don't have Provincial tax so it was only $1.25 pretty pleased about that as the Beast just guzzles it. We had lunch at the visitors centre there in the back of the van which is great except Kaff wont cook chips for me. The money we are saving on food is going straight into the fuel tank .

Leaving Grande Cash and heading to Grand Prairie was about 185 klm and the road was beautiful and winding with lovely forests, nice to drive along. .and then !!! it changed and the whole road was dotted with mining/construction & Logging and road reconstruction and it was all happening. Development on steroids...I say raping the country. There were trucks everywhere, they were behind us, beside us, ahead of us just crazy..To cap it off it was windy so we were being blown all over the place with that and then back the other way when we passed a truck..I think we were lucky to get into Fort St John alive.
In Grand Prairie we stopped at Walmart for a new non stick frypan, we got it for $10 and we also got some toilet blocks as advised by our new friend. Then it was back in the van and heading for Dawsons Creek. It was a far nicer town than Grand Prairie which was full on industrial. Dawson Creek had a bit more style too it. After Dawsons Creek we had about 80 klm to get to Fort St John. We stopped along the way and saw an old timber railway bridge which was no longer in use but pretty amazing to see so much stuff made from wood.
We arrived in the RV Park outside town because we couldn't find the one in Fort St John. This one is 10 Klm up the road at Lake Charlie. I am sitting out side the office because the internet is so crap... That was the reason for staying, so we could go on line...Anyway it too late now so will upload pics tomorrow if I can.
