Just Hanging in Fairbanks

Fairbanks, Alaska, United States
Fairbanks Wednesday:   Well God Bless America...How I love thee...We went to the gas station to fill up and it was so damn cheap compared to Canada I wanted to fill containers..But I was just a tad excited by the price. I think it was like $3.91 per gallon, I just have to work out how that converts.
Went down to the office at the RV Park to book a tour to Barrow but they were booked out, then tried for the Aurora Coldfoot tour and they were booked out . So it was back to plan B...Back to the RV and get online and see what the go was. I eventually managed to get onto the Aurora tour by myself.. Its going to be a big day as you fly up to the Arctic Circle then do a tour and then you drive back, hope to see the Northern Lights out where there is no Light pollution. The road we will be going on is the Ice Truckers road...the dreaded Dalton Highway...lol
We also got online to book a bear tour while we are in Anchorage and the first one we tried was fully booked but we managed to get on another. The tours a massively expensive but its the old once in a lifetime chance so you have to grab it.
We went off to Walmart as its sooo damn cold I wanted another warmer Jacket. But as its summer they had none in stock, funny really. I ended up getting one at a sports store because if I am cold in Fairbanks, you can bet I will be freezing my arse off in the Arctic !!
My Camera has decided to give up the ghost..Just after I had spent my life savings and mortgaged the house for tours I had to buy a new camera as well . No one seemed to have much, but we got some directions to a camera shop in town so we went there. I ended up getting one the same as Kathryns..its wasn't exactly what I was looking for but I need to have a good zoom for the trip. So now we are on an even playing field, no more camera envy.
Right next to the Camera store was a Chinese restaurant and we decided to have lunch there, we got the Lunch special for $8.99 which included a drink or soup. When she bought the meal out it was massive. We ended up bringing it home for dinner as well. Bargain.
we drove out the 55 miles to Chena Hot Springs..I must say it was a bit of a let down as it wasn't as nice as the Liard Springs. The RV Park where we are staying is right beside the Chena River, it runs straight through town. On the road out to the Springs we passed more ATV Hunters as the season starts today. Thankfully we only saw Chipmunks today as I was thinking if we saw a moose it would have been likely to have been shot before our eyes.
Anyway not much going on tonight except rest and recharge ready for tomorrow. Kaff is going to attempt to arise at 2am to see if she can see the Northern Lights.....
