On the road again

Hope, British Columbia, Canada
Hope BC:    We have been a tad slack on our Blogs because we have been resting up in Kamloops. After a few days just hanging out, little bit of shopping, Kaff had her hair done, I am saving my Mullet for Barbie, we hit the road again today. We drove out through Cashe Creek and down the Fraser Valley on Highway one. We left just after 0900 and got into Hope about 1700 so we had lots of stops and lots of photos as its beautiful. We stopped by Lake Kamloops and Balancing Rock which we always had trouble finding when we lived here. We drove through Ashcroft and Lytton and had Lunch at a small Diner on the roadside before Boston Bar. The restaurants claim to fame was Jack Nicholson had dined there along with Sean Penn & his old family, photos decorated the walls to prove it. We couldn't eat it all so we got doggy boxes to go.
Our next stop was Hells Gate ...Now this place is a Narrowing of the Fraser River and rapids and at the moment the Salmon are running upstream and they have a Fish Ladder there so it was good to watch them beating the Rapids. Of course to get there we had to go in a Air Tramway which is like a Gondola and it goes right down to the river where there was a suspension Bridge. All very beautiful and there were lots of small chipmunks and some Blue Birds we have decided are Blue Cardinals. But we can be corrected if anyone knows better.
The poor old Salmon were really struggling to get through the rapids and the number that are expected to go through is mind blowing. Alaskas Salmon were at the end of there run when we were there but it seems to be full on down here.
Leaving Hells Gate we stopped by the old bridge called Alexandra Bridge. It was a great spot, as we were walking down we heard a train and as we love photographing the trains we took off at a sprint....well maybe just a trot..and when we got down there we could only see glimpses of the train !!! Buggar !!! ...   The bridge was amazing, and we could see the new one from the old one.

The trains along this Valley are incredible. They follow the river along and there is a track along both sides of the river..One Canadian Pacific and the other Canadian National, but who goes on what line I haven't a clue. But today we must have seen like 7 trains, 2 of them 150 cars or more, just fantastic. Sometimes you can see them running in and out the tunnels or even one on each side of the river, but not today for us.. but we did get to see the colourful container train which was a bonus.

Anyway after a big scenic day on the road we are in a lovely campground in Hope BC about 150 klm from Vancouver. We are here for 2 nights before dropping our beloved petrol guzzling Rocky the RV back to its rightful owners and then the big road trip is over and we change to a small SUV for a small trip into Washington State.

All is good in the world.
