Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada
Chilliwack BC Tuesday :    Survived the night in the Dodgy motel in Concrete..no breakfast included there so it was on the road quick smart. We drove through a couple of small towns before getting to Sedro Woolley, here we were going to stop at Denny's but unfortunately after driving around the whole town we found nothing so we continued on. We were heading toward Sumas the Border crossing. We came upon a small diner in the town or should I say village of ACME.....Now I always thought that was a made up name from the cartoons, didn't Wiley Coyote always have dynamite in a box from Acme !! Anyway it was perfect. It was a retro 50's diner and was decorated with old movie advertising. The waitress who was about 40 yo and had a hair plait right past her butt ! Anyway it was a top breakfast so it was a good thing we didn't stop earlier.
After breakfast we went down the road to the T Junction ...Sumas left, Mount Baker right...Kaff decided Mount Baker so off we went. It was another fabulous drive. All the colourful trees it was like driving through a tunnel at times. There was only small villages with lodges on the way up. We stopped at a waterfall called "Nooksack". I told Kaff that it was the First Nation name for Bed ! It was a good waterfall.
Onward and upward. It was quite spectacular at the top. Lots of green meadows, snow and some Glaciers. We were fortunate to see it as the cloud was covering the top but as we descended the cloud came down further and nothing was visible.
We topped up with cheap gas in Sumas before crossing the border. We were first in line at customs and you have to stop about 6 metres from the little box where the man sits. So we stopped but we didn't know whether to move forward or not..so we just sat there, eventually he started flicking the red & green light at us, so we drove forward..I think we need more practice at this border crossing shit. We totally disappointed him when we had no alcohol to declare ..pathetic really !
We drove straight through Abbortsford and on to Mission thinking it was a small religious town as theats where the bigamist lives and we thought it would be full of Bretheren or the such like but alas its very big and we ended up just driving through it. Missing it all. We stopped at a river crossing to see the floating logs and we got to see our favourite container train all colourful.
We are staying in Chilliwack tonight so I can catch the bus into town tomorrow to meet Lachlan and Tammie. I am very excited to see them. Kaff is driving back to the Loops after dropping me off.
We are right next to Sears department store and they happened to have a big sale on at the moment so we went over and nundged the plastic a bit more...I will be on food rations when I get home...
