Ranthambore National Park, Rajasthan, India
Had another fitful nights sleep still feeling crappy today so didn't have breakfast, the tablets seem to have kicked in but I just have a crook stomach... Today we were supposed to go to an old Fort then catch the train again to Ranhambore but apparently the train got cancelled so we instead had the 6 hour drive by coach instead of a 2 hour rail trip... anyway it was an interesting drive.. I took a couple of travel sick tablets so ended up sleeping a lot of the way...The bus seats are pretty uncomfortable as the backs are too far back. Anyway we survived.. The bus driver is awesome. You wouldn't believe some of the things he manages to avoid hitting..today we sat at the front So had a birds eye view of what was ahead of us..
We have crossed borders and are now in Rajastan, this is a much richer state than we were in ... The farms look. Ore prosperous and the houses are concrete with very few shanty camps.
We passed a truck accident, he had rolled and lost his whole load of tomatos, there were people there trying to help him repack the toms which were all over the road..
We are now seeing camels which are being used to pull a trailer all tizzied up...We also passed some big loads with people perched atop..
There were some new trucks..apparently they sell just the base of the truck..ie: the framework 4 wheels then an open engine at the front with the driver sitting on his seat with no cabin at all around him..they looked hilarious...apparently you add your own cabin and tray..lol
We rolled into the Ranthambore National Park at about 1330hrs ..This is a Tiger conservation park..The forests around used to be the Marharajas from Jaipur, hunting grounds but now is renowned for its tiger population..( Apparently).. We had lunch which looked gross, I had the soup but left it so ended up with just Naan bread...We then had some time to check into our rooms .. The rooms are all around a lovely pool area.. inside the rooms are pretty basic but clean. John the Pom who I have renamed Benny Hill ( because that's who he looks like) wasn't very happy with his room, I am thinking he was expecting 5 star accomodation forgetting we are in a third world country...The old sisters who are Australian, were complaining about being upstairs ...one of the sisters I am calling her " The mechanic" as apparently she told Peter that's what she used to do.. She has a perfect bowl haircut and is always having a whinge about something... That's all I've renamed so far..more to follow no doubt..
After lunch we loaded into the Canter trucks and took a spin around the park for a few hours..It was a bumpy old ride and once again we saw all the usual wildlife that we saw lastime minus that ever elusive tiger AGAIN... we did see some nice birds though. Any way it's dinnertime and I am cold and starving so hopefully I am on the ment..I will go and see if dinner is an improvement on lunch otherwise I will be just eating my Saltine crackers that bought at the truck stop today...

You are lucky that it is the season for antlers as they make the deer look really impressive.
