Jaipur, Rajasthan, India
Another full day was had..We started at 0800hrs and left the hotel to beat the traffic.. we travelled through town to the Palace of the wind..Tourists are not allowed in here so we could only take a picture from the outside, so Vishel took us up to the rooftop opposite to get some photos, but my fave picture came from the footpath in front.. We saw another Snake Charmer on the footpath and a stupid tourist patting the Cobra !
From the Old town we could see the Amer Fort and what we were calling the Indian Wall which we thought may have connected to China's Great Wall on one end and maybe Hadrian Wall to the West ..lol
Jaipur is called the Pink City because of the pink colour of all the walls in the old quarter. It's really quite beautiful. We drove behind the city up unto the hills where the Amer for was.. There are about four different forts up in the surrounding hills.. The Hawkers were all waiting for us but we managed to evade them until we finished.. The pictures around the Amer Fort were really good, everything seems to be in great condition.
Back down the hill we stopped by to grab a photo of the Floating Palace but that wasn't very good as it was into the sun and too much smog so we focused on shopping..The hawkers had their wares on to ground displayed so it was better to see.. I managed to get a couple of shopping bags..
Next we went to see the Carpet sellers factory, they are all very beautiful but not for me..Brother Peter has ordered one..I spent my money down stairs on a Tablecloth and some tunics and scarfs.. The materials here are mostly Stamp printed, they showed us how it was done which was very interesting..They were also tailors and were offering garments made and delivered to your hotel within 4 hours ..Not bad hey..A person could go crazy..
Next stop was lunch...??? I managed to eat a bit of the Indian food today filling up with some bread.. After lunch we were off the the Jewellery factory..saw some fantastic stuff , the beautiful bracelet I tried on cost $18,000 Aus dollar...Unfortunately I didn't want to sell my house to buy it so it's still there.
Next stop was the Jantar Mantar Observary..It's a stone observatory, the largest in the world, it has 17 large instruments most of them still working..the bloke who took us around was full on into Astrology..We had to give our birth date and time and he then described you..Mine was " Emotional & Caring & educated" The last one made brother Peter laugh..lol
Lastly we went to the Marharajas Palace, The old one is right next door to the current one..we only saw the old one..
The current Marharajas is only 18 years old..I think he is like the Marharajas for Rajasthan ..
Back at the hotel Peter and I opted out of the dinner and cultural show , instead getting room service and going to the grocery store.. The grocery store was great, we managed to find most of the stuff we wanted..
