ALSISAR, Rajasthan, India
So once again I managed to lose my blog..it's up there is blog heaven again.
On the bus and off we went leaving Jaipur . We all had a good time shopping from the bus here, as we left a mate of the driver jumped aboard and flogged us his leather goods and we dropped him off at the outskirts of the city, he had an offside rule following us on his motor bike.
The road we travelled was similar to the one from the Tiger Park, rural communities with quite prosperous looking farms.. they are growing wheat .. The houses are cement block houses and they pile up the straw in big pointed piles and to stop the stock from eating it they surround the pile with bracken from the trees..
Pit stop today was a truck stop diner.. I use the term diner very loosely. Toilet were clean and cost 10 rupee, they usually have a mix of Western and Squat toilets.. When we arrived to the village of ALSISAR we had to walk to our hotel as the streets are to narrow for the bus.
Our hotel is amazing. It is a former Haveli. Which is like a private Fort. These were owned by the Warlords who worked for the Marharajas. This one was renovated in 2007 and it is magnificent .. full of wall murals and painted ceilings..The 52 rooms are decorated with furniture from the earlier years and they are all very grand.. the rooftop has a second restaurant and bar with 360 degree views all around..
I was dreaming of myself floating about the place like a peacock all dressed in me beautiful Sari and dripping in jewels ..then I woke with my old clothes on and no Marharajas !
Late in the afternoon we took a walk through the old village and went into another old Haveli which hadn't been renovated and it had two bedrooms full with beautiful art on walls and ceilings. There are quite a few of the old places about but none as grand as ours..
This Village was a part of the old Silk Road, There are a lot of Nomadic Gypsies travelling about, they set up camp on the edges of the towns..We got picked up by some of the local kids who were all after pens..god only knows what they were going to do with them all, probably set up a stall..lol

You were in the lap of luxury in that room. Were all the rooms that spacious? The hotel would have mad everyone feel like royalty.
