Bikaner, Rajasthan, India
More travelling today, we left our Haveli at 0745 hrs and hit the road.. We went on back roads busy roads , our driver is exceptional..he manoeuvres that bus around the traffic like it was a mini minor.. dodging cars, trucks buses tuk tuks, bikes pedestrians, clowns goats and dogs ! I know next time I get a taxi and he is Indian I will have full faith in him..They are experts.
I have been sticking to tea and toast for breakfast in the mornings as I figure anything else will upset the system, we are getting the same meals everyday mostly vegitarian curries sometimes a bit of chicken or mutton curry, We have been thinking the mutton may well be goat .. Anyway I am eating lunch but dinner I am not eating the curries as a double dose of curry in a day has you too scared to fart ..it's dangerous !
We had our morning tea roadside again..now we are discovering the small packets of biscuits and they are really good..I think most of us fill up on these before lunch...
We arrived in the Red city of BIKANER about 1230 hrs.. So we had an early lunch today at the Red Junagarh Fort. The toilet here was exceptional..no seat to a hover job then when you pressed to button water sprayed out everywhere..freaking gross...
After lunch we went into the Fort and we had a great guide.. All the forts are similar but the Frescos inside them have to be seen to be believed..
After the Fort we took a Tuk Tuk ride into the old city and saw some beautiful old Havelis just stunning.. Their were kids in the street playing cricket with a plastic cricket bat..
Back into the tuk tuks we went through the traffic jammed street and back to the bus, you see so much it's hard to remember everything.
The bus then took us off to our accommodations for the night .. and it's an old palace which has been converted into a posh hotel..it's very nice.
We had a 30 minute rest before some of us went off again, this time to the Rat Temple..Some people have a Rat God they worship and this is a temple dedicated to the rat... One word I use to describe it and that is " DISGUSTING !! We had to take our shoes off, thankfully I had socks with me as it was awful.. The rats looked really ratty..lol. Some of them looked sick.. One of the men bought food for them then sat there feeding them and they were sitting on his lap...Gross!!!
As soon as I got home I went in the showers and washed everything..
Dinner was the usual crap so I ordered a plate of Chips..everyone was jealous so I did share with a few people..
In the Palace today they are filming a famous Indian Comedy in the courtyard so it's very busy...It means nothing to us as we haven't a clue, the locals however are very excited..
Having trouble loading photos, will have to try with better wifi down the track..

I love the colours of the saris. They are beautiful. When the ladies are clustered together it looks great.
