Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, India
0830 departure with another long day on the road..I do like the driving days as I have been listening to my Audio books..Peter not so much as he can't get comfortable and yesterday and today his feet have swollen..
The area we are in is pretty much desert, low sand dunes with scrubby trees and hundreds of Camels .. We stopped again at a truckstop..This one had no biscuits, lucky I bought my own.. The cup of tea was terrible so I had to settle for a Luke warm Diet Coke. The shop was once again overpriced for their souvenirs, you would think they would learn..cheaper prices sell more stock..Their loss.
Lunch was also at a truck stop and we were offered the usual fare..PLUS Chips so it was a good lunch, the dessert was odd looking, looked like shredded carrots soaked in honey, but it was very tasty and coconut flavoured..the drinks were iced cold and toilets were good too.
After lunch we came across some Camel herders, they were branding their Camels..We got off the bus and took some photos..poor things, their were a few babies too.
Getting on the bus this morning no one had sat in the front seat, Peter jumped up and moved as he loves the front seat, turns out everyone is too scared to sit in the front as the driver has so many near misses it gives everyone Anxiety..lol
Tonights hotel is really very nice..a desert oasis ..Peter went in for a swim but said he didn't put his head under as the water was a but gross...Off to sight see now.
Forgot to mention, last night in the hotel when they were filming, I got to see the big Bollywood star...he was surrounded by security as the locals were going crazy trying to get photos of him...I don't know his name .
Just back from the Crematorium...We drove through the town and passed a huge Fort which is build on a Plateau, it looks just like a If sancastle, we are going there tomorrow.. The Crematorium is still used today and it's set on a hilltop quite a nice view of the Fort.. We stayed for the sunset but it ended up a fizzer as it set behind the clouds.
This town is only 120 klm from the Pakistani border.. Indias arch enemy.. So for a lot of today's drive we passed military on exercise, tanks and all then Base after base.. the town also has a couple of Battalions based her, as we waited the sunset a big plane flew over a few times, it was like the US Starlifter..really big. We have 2 nights here.

The camels look healthy and the driver quite well dressed. You would think in the dirt and dust they would be dirty.
